I will be the PC Chair of SaTML 2026 and 2027. I was the PC Chair of DEFCON Crypto and Privacy Village 2025. I was the PC Chair of IEEE TPS 2024. I was the Workshop Chair of WSDM 2024. I was the PC Chair of TPDP 2020 and TPDP 2021.
Advisory Service: I serve on the Independent Census Scientific Advisory Committee, and I previously served on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Census Scientific Advisory Committee until its dissolution in 2025. I serve on the Irving Institute Translational Science Leadership Committee. I serve on the Steering Committee for ACM-IMS FODS and the Future of Privacy Forum’s Advisory Board. I serve on the Scientific Committee for the 2026 Learning and Optimization in Luminy. I served on the Board of the Atlanta Regional Data Center (ARDC). This is a fantastic resource for researchers in the Southeast U.S. to access datasets collected by the U.S. Census Bureau. I serve on the ACM U.S. Public Policy Council in the Privacy Committee and in the Algorithmic Accountability and Big Data working groups. I am also a member of the IEEE Standards Association working groups on Algorithmic Bias Considerations and Transparent Data Governance.
Organization of Workshops and Outreach: I co-run the Women in DP group at OpenDP. I organized a Workshop on Defining Holistic Private Data Science for Practice in January 2025. I organized a workshop on DP Beyond Algorithms at the OpenDP 2024 Community Meeting. I was the lead organizer of NYC Privacy Day in Spring 2023, which has since continued in future editions. I was the lead organizer of a Workshop on Contextual Integrity for Differential Privacy at Banff International Research Station Okanagan in Summer 2023. I was the lead organizer of the “Connections Workshop: Algorithms, Fairness, and Equity” at the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (formerly MRSI) in Summer 2023. I was the lead organizer of the Data Science for Social Good Workshop (DS4SG) at Georgia Tech in 2019 and 2020. The workshop highlights applications of data science techniques to problems of significant societal impact, and aims to encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply to graduate school in data science or related fields. I was a co-organizer for the Workshop on Societal Considerations and Applications as a part of the Simons Program on Data-Driven Decision Processes in Fall 2022. I co-organized a Workshop on Synthetic Data Generation: Quality, Privacy, Bias at ICLR 2021, a Workshop on Economic Implications of Data at ICML 2020, a Workshop on Privacy-Preserving Artificial Intelligence at AAAI 2020, and a Tutorial on Algorithmic Fairness at EC 2018. I also co-organized the Women’s Mentoring Breakfast at EC 2018, 2019, and 2020, and continue to serve as a faculty advisor.
Award Committees: I serve or have served on the ACM SIGecom Doctoral Dissertation Award Committee (I am Chair in 2025), the INFORMS Nicholson Student Paper Competition Committee, the INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize Committee (I was Chair in 2024), the PET Award Committee, and the Future of Privacy Forum’s Privacy Papers for Policymakers Award Committee.
Previous institutional service: I co-organized the ISyE Seminar Series for the 2018-2019 academic year, with Mohit Singh. I organized the Simons Institute Privacy Seminar Series in Spring 2019. I served on the Coordinating Committee for the Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO) PhD program. I was a Grand Challenges Faculty Fellow at Georgia Tech. This program bridges academia and service by helping undergraduate students tackle large real-world problems.
